Tai Jun's thoughts: Unforgotten...unforgiven |
|
Three years ago, this was President Cui's office. Now, he has passed away, and I came back too late. I am finally home, after three years. Madam Yuen was there to greet me with my new uniform. I put it on. It fitted me well. Outside the meeting room door, I already heard Manager Wu's voice. When I stepped through the door, it was amazingly quiet. Something was not right, and I kept my head down. Madam Cui announced that I would be taking over as the general manager, and it was immediately questioned by Manager Wu: "... with this sort of staff around, the image of the hotel would be tarnished... I submit my resignation in disgust..." He stood up, left the room. Lau also stood up, left the room. More stood up, and more left. At the end, there was only a few in the meeting room. I went back to my quarters, sat in the dark, light up a cigeratte and think. Should I really come back? Am I needed here at all? Clearly, I have not been forgotten, nor forgiven. In the dark, you came in, and I heard your voice: "When I first started working here, it was you who told me that:
if you treat others like your master, others will treat you like their master if you treat others like your servant, other will slave you around if you continue to behave like are sinner, others will also think you have sinned ..."
Your walkie-talkie went off: .".. emergency in room 603 ..." I was still sitting there. "Aren't you coming?" you called me, you urged me to stand up. |

Zhen Yin's thoughts: Tai Jun, welcome back! |
|
You requested to enter Hotel Seoul via the staff entrance. That is a clear indication. (Staff doesnt enter the Hotel via the main entrance.) Welcome home, Tai Jun! I smiled. Madam Cui, Chef and I are so grateful to see you back. You changed into your uniform. Time seemed to have slipped back to my training days, with you as our mentor. From the outside, this is the Tai Jun I used to know. You encountered the first setback at the meeting. You retreated into your room alone. Madam Cui and I were worried. I allowed you time to recover. However, you didnt walk out of that room at all. The longer the wait the more panic I felt. Tai Jun, you are back now. No matter what are the hurdles, you should face them! You taught me that, do you remember? I walked into your room. It was dark. I repeated to you the lesson you have taught me: "When I first started working here, it was you who told me that:
If you treat others like your master, others will treat you like their master. If you treat others like your servant, other will slave you around. If you continue to behave like a sinner, others will also think you have sinned ..."
I know this is difficult for you. However, things will proceed better after you get started. The question is how to get you started? Will you get started? My walkie-talkie went off: .".. emergency in room 603 ..." Tai Jun, why are you still sitting there? This is your working hours! Come on! You were composed in room 603. You saved the guests life. You have impressed the staff. Some confidence came back to your face. You gave me instructions, from the position of a superior. Finally, you saw my point and started to do real work. I smiled. I blew you a platonic kiss. I disappeared down the stairs. I shelved the hurt in my heart aside. I am on my way to implement your instructions. |
