Confession of an Hotelier addict

contributed by Frank Shin (email: frank_shin_byj@hotmail.com) I started to have great interest in Korean dramas after watching GoodbyeMyLove (starring Ahn Jae Wook & Kim Hee Sun) which was then being broadcast by Phoenix Channel in May 1999. I was so touched by AJW devoted love for KHS in this drama. AJW is my very first korean idol because I was very impressed by his acting and singing ability. During 1999, I couldn't find any korean stuffs in Malaysia or Singapore and that is the time when I started learning to surf the internet. I became addicted to the net after I found a lots of great stuffs and I'll present my tribute to the person who has created the mighty search engine that brought me closer to my dream. I was so desperate to find korean dramas vcd until I start begging my family member or friend to get for me AJW's drama vcds whenever they travel to China. Sometimes, I find it so funny, why am I so obsessed over my new interest although I cannot read Chinese nor understand all Mandarin dialogues from the drama. When AAE was broadcast in Malaysia, most my friends were charmed by JDG except myself. I wasn't too impressed with his acting skills at all. Then, Autumn Tale also did not leave much impact on me too. Finally next came along Hotelier and that was it. I love Dong Xian very much and that influence me to find Bae Yong Jun irresistible. BYJ sparked off the fire within me just like AJW. So far, Hotelier is still my favourite drama because of the following scenes that affected and touched me very deeply:
... Dong Xian standing at the seaside of "East Ocean" after meeting with his father.... ... Diamond Villa, dancing scene and the dialogue... The scene after Zhen Yin found out about the truth. I'm very touched with this dialogue: "I have given up a lot to be by your side.. I can't let you go now because I have walked too far ... ... the two staircase scenes at the Casablanca... ... the scene at the Casablanca where Dong Xian ignored Zhen Yin because he was furious that she didn't turn up at the Church. In this scene I could feel the background music and the atmosphere going into my soul... ...Proposal scene : "I walked a long way, came to you empty handed"... ...The scene where Dong Xian and Zhen Yin went to take neo print! So blissful...
I would like to make another confession, I'm so crazy over Hotelier that I started to notice the Sapphire Villa no. 2613, the Jaguar car no. 3264, Dong Xian three different hair styles, Dong Xian and Zhen Yin matching attires when they were at the Chongmyo Shrine and confession at the Church. I find most of the scenes and dialogues in Hotelier are perfect except the ending. Quite disappointing cos' it could have been better to prolong the reunion scene between Dong Xian and Zhen Yin. I came to a conclusion that I'm so engrossed with Korean drama because of those beautifully written dialogues which were dubbed to perfection... |
